No New Posts Classroom 11

Classroom Eleven is a classroom on the ground floor of Hogwarts Castle. It was used by the Centaur Firenze, who taught the subject of Divination, since he could not climb into the classroom on top of the North Tower. Albus Dumbledore changed the room to look like the forest, Firenze's home. The floor was mossy and trees were growing out of it, the branches covered the windows and the ceilings. As leaves covered the windows, it made the room have a green light.

In 1991, Professor Quirinus Quirrell taught in a different classroom because the Third Floor Corridor was out of bounds. An iron chandeleir hung from the ceiling, as well as a dragon's skeleton. On one end of the classroom stands a projector that is activated by magic. Several desks and tables can be found in the classroom as well as some sets of large windows. No New Posts Headmaster's Office

Located in the Headmaster's Tower, the Headmaster's office is where all the headmasters stay while at Hogwarts.

Like the Hogwarts Houses, the Headmaster's tower requires a Password from anyone who wishes to gain entry to the room. The tower is guarded by a large and ugly stone gargoyle which rarely talks but is capable of doing so. The headmaster's office itself is a large circular room with many windows and many portraits of old headmasters and headmistresses. The portrait of the immediate predecessor of the current headmaster or headmistress hangs behind the head's desk. It is suggested that this is the largest of the paintings in the room, which, in turn, suggests that the paintings shrink by some degree once it is no longer the portrait of the immediate predecessor of the current headmaster or headmistress.

This office is located on Hogwarts Castle's Sixth floor. Once used by then-Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Galatea Merrythought, it is now used by Horace Slughorn, Potions Master. Its use after Professor Merrythought's retirement in 1945 in not known, although it can be assumed that it was left unnoccupied, as when Albus Dumbledore negotiated with Horace Slughorn that the latter resume his post of Potions master at Hogwarts in 1996, Slughorn demanded that he receive this particularly large office, implying that no other teacher had been using it. Fairly roomy, this office included a fireplace with two large sofas surrounding it, a round dinner table big enough to sit ten people and access to a private balcony. It had enough space to hold a Christmas party.

During their fifth year, the Gryffindor students went to this office to talk to Professor McGonagall about their academic future as she was their Head of House. There is a fireplace in this office, connected to the Floo Network, which was used by students during the 1996–1997 school year when they returned to Hogwarts, following the Christmas holidays. It is unknown whether she occupied this office due to her position as Transfiguration professor, Head of Gryffindor House, or Deputy Headmistress.

No New Posts Room 234-00

Room 234-00 is the room where Argus Filch lived in Hogwarts Castle. It is connected to the Entrance Hall, on the Ground Floor of Hogwarts Castle. It's a small, simple room with a single oil lamp hanging from the ceiling. It smells vaguely of fried fish. There are filing cabinets in it with details of the misdeeds of Hogwarts Students. Fred and George Weasley have an entire drawer for their own misdeeds. One of those cabinets are full of confiscated magic items marked "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous", in which Fred and George found the Marauder's Map. Filch kept his chains and manacles in this office (it's common knowledge that he always begged Dumbledore to allow him to hang students by their ankles as punishment), and kept them well polished.

Due to the office being owned by Filch, who is disliked by every student in Hogwarts, the students tended to avoid it at all costs. Harry, during his second year, was called in for punishment after tracking mud into the castle, and found a Kwikspell letter in this office, which eventually lead to him finding out Filch was a Squib.

No New Posts Severus Snape's Office (Not Occupied)

This office is currently not occupied, but all that is known of this office is learned from it’s previous occupant, Severus Snape:

The office used by Severus Snape during his long tenure as Potions master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was a gloomy and dimly-lit room found in the school dungeons. The shadowy walls were lined with shelves of large glass jars filled with slimy, revolting things, such as bits of animals and plants, floating in potions of varying colours. Snape's collection grew over time - in 1994 Harry Potter noted there were more jars than in 1992, and by 1996, there were hundreds of them, even though Snape was no longer teaching the subject of potions. The office had a fireplace. In a corner, there was a cupboard containing Snape's private stock of Potions ingredients. In 1997, the office also contained a table, but it is unknown if it had been there before.

The office is sealed with a spell only wizards can break.

It is a small tea shop owned by Madam Puddifoot, and was where Harry Potter and Cho Chang went to on Valentine's Day in 1996. It was also visited by Roger Davies and his girlfriend. It is very hot and steamy there, and also very cramped.

No New Posts Honeydukes Sweetshop

Honeydukes Sweetshop is one of the most famous wizarding confectioneries in the world. It sells wizarding sweets of all descriptions, including Chocolate Frogs, Liquorice Wands, Pepper Imps, Chocoballs, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, Fizzing Whizzbees, Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, Toothflossing Stringmints, Ice Mice, Cockroach Clusters, Jelly Slugs, Blood Lollipops, Acid Pops and Sugar Quills, among others. They also sell creamy chunks of nougat, shimmering pink squares of coconut ice, fat, honey-coloured toffees, and hundreds of different kinds of chocolate.

There is a trapdoor in the cellar of Honeydukes, which connects to a secret passage which leads to a statue of a one-eyed witch on the third floor of Hogwarts. Fred and George Weasley give Harry the Marauder's Map which he uses to enter Hogsmeade through the passage into Honeydukes.

No New Posts Hogsmeade Post Office

The Hogsmeade Post Office is a building in the village of Hogsmeade that houses at least two–to–three–hundred owls, ranging from Great Grey Owls to tiny Scops (the latter for "local deliveries only"), hooting down from colour-coded shelves. The shelves are colour-coded based on how quickly they will arrive at their destination.

Ron and Hermione visit it on the first time they go to Hogsmeade, and later tell Harry about it. When Harry uses the Marauder's Map and his Cloak of Invisibility to get to Hogsmeade, they point it out to him, as well as several other shops of interest, including Zonko's Joke Shop.

No New Posts Shrieking Shack

The Shrieking Shack, on the outskirts of Hogsmeade, is believed to be the most haunted building in Great Britain. Connected to Hogwarts by a secret tunnel, the Shrieking Shack was used by Remus Lupin, a werewolf, to hide during the full moon to avoid harming fellow students or others. The villagers heard Lupin's howls while he resided there, and mistook it for violent spirits. This rumor, encouraged by Dumbledore, led to the Shrieking Shack being officially regarded as the most haunted building in Britain.

No New Posts Ministry of Magic

The Ministry of Magic (M.o.M.) is the governing body for the magical community of Great Britain, and US. The Ministry connects the British and US governments to the wizarding world. Its headquarters are in Whitehall, in central London, deep underground (with a sub-headquarters in NYC that answers to the M.o.M. in Great Britain). It is headed by the Minister for Magic. The current Minister in Britain is Kingsley Shacklebolt. It is known that other countries have their own Ministries of Magic, such as Norway, Germany, etc.

No New Posts St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries

St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is a wizarding hospital in London, England. It was founded by famous Healer Mungo Bonham in the 1600s. The emblem of St. Mungo's is a wand crossed with a bone.

To enter the premises, one may step through the window of what appears to be a red-bricked, condemned department store called Purge and Dowse, Ltd. This acts as a magical gateway to the main building, much like the barrier at King's Cross Station to Platform 9¾. The interior, on the other hand, looks exactly as a hospital should.

No New Posts Azkaban Prison

Azkaban is a wizard's prison located on an island in the middle of the North Sea. Presumably, it only serves the magical community of Great Britain, as there are other wizarding prisons elsewhere such as Nurmengard. Using certain Charms, the prison is hidden from the muggle world, and is unplottable. It gained a reputation as a horrible place, given that its former guards, Dementors, cause great suffering to those in their proximity; most prisoners eventually went insane and slowly died under their influence. Since 1717, using any of the three Unforgivable Curses on another human being has carried a punishment of a life sentence in Azkaban (unless there is sufficient evidence that the caster did so under the influence of the Imperius Curse).

No New Posts Platform 9¾

Platform 9¾ is the platform from which the Hogwarts Express may be boarded on September the 1st. The platform has, on September the first, a sign hanging over the scene reading: Hogwarts Express, eleven o'clock, and there is a wrought iron archway bearing the words Platform Nine and Three Quarters over the entry/exit to the platform. At the conclusion of the school year, the Hogwarts Express returns to King's Cross bearing the students of Hogwarts back for their summer holidays. It can be assumed that the sign over the platform changes on the day the train returns from Hogwarts.

In order for someone to get onto Platform 9¾, they must walk directly at the apparently solid barrier dividing platforms nine and ten. Mrs. Molly Weasley advises that one should "do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous." It is not known exactly how Muggles do not, or cannot get onto the platform; however, it can be assumed that powerful magic of some sort is employed in order to keep them ignorant of its existence.
